Daisy — thank you for thinking of JADA for the Dorsey & Whitney program. For a group that spends its days in conference rooms, few San Diego activities land like an afternoon under sail on a wooden yacht older than almost everything else on the water.
JADA is a 65-foot classic sailing yacht, launched in 1938 and beautifully kept ever since. For your date we reserve her entirely for your group — no shared decks, no strangers. You asked about boarding at Glorietta Bay, right by the Hotel del Coronado — we can absolutely do that. JADA's home dock is Harbor Island, so a Coronado boarding adds some sailing time each way; we've laid out the boarding options below with honest pricing for each. Everything else you asked for is here too: capacity, what's included, the hands-on sailing, and duration.
Yes — we accommodate a hands-on portion easily, and groups love it. Under the captain's direction, guests can take a turn at the helm, help raise and trim the sails, and learn how a classic yawl is worked. It's safe, genuinely fun, and a natural team moment — a little friendly coordination to get JADA moving under sail.
If it's useful, tell us what Dorsey & Whitney would like the hands-on portion to accomplish (a relaxed experience, a bit of team-building, a friendly competition), and we'll shape that stretch of the sail to match.
JADA holds a U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection for 34 souls total. We recommend up to 28 guests for the most comfortable experience, and can host up to 30. Your range of 15–30 fits beautifully either way, with a full professional crew aboard.
Minimum recommended: the charter is private and priced for the whole yacht, so it works for an intimate group of 15 just as well as a full party of 30.
The yacht is yours to set up as you like — bring your own catering and beverages, or we're glad to recommend trusted San Diego caterers and bar service for a corporate group. No corkage fee.
JADA's home dock is the Sheraton on Harbor Island. Glorietta Bay sits right by the Hotel del Coronado — but bringing JADA there and back adds about an hour of sailing each way, so a Coronado boarding carries a repositioning cost. We can't offer that part for free, so here is exactly how it works either way. The rate is $695/hour + an 18% port fee and includes the boat, USCG captain & crew, insurance, port/docking fees, and chilled water — the only thing that changes below is how much repositioning time is involved. (Times are samples around a noon start; tell us your preferred start and we'll shift them.)
Start and finish steps from the Hotel del Coronado — no transfer to manage. JADA repositions from Harbor Island before and after.
11:00a JADA departs Harbor Island (repositioning) · 12:00p board at Glorietta Bay · 12:00–3:00p three hours sailing · 3:00p disembark at Glorietta Bay · 4:00p JADA back at Harbor Island
| 5 hours of charter time3 hrs aboard + 2 hrs repositioning (1 each way) · $695/hr | $3,475 |
| Port fee (18%) | $626 |
| All-in | ~$4,100 |
Pick your guests up at Coronado, sail the bay, and finish at JADA's Harbor Island home dock — so there's no return repositioning. Your guests arrange their ride back to Coronado from Harbor Island.
11:00a JADA departs Harbor Island (repositioning) · 12:00p board at Glorietta Bay · 12:00–3:00p three hours sailing, ending at Harbor Island · 3:00p disembark at the Sheraton, Harbor Island
| 4 hours of charter time3 hrs aboard + 1 hr repositioning (out only) · $695/hr | $2,780 |
| Port fee (18%) | $500 |
| All-in | ~$3,280 |
JADA's standard departure — your group comes to the Sheraton on Harbor Island, with no Coronado repositioning. The lowest cost, and the reason the options above cost a little more.

Two-hour minimum. Add or trim sailing time at $695/hr + port fee. Final Glorietta Bay dock arrangements confirmed when you choose an option.
A gratuity for the crew is not included. 20% is customary for this kind of service and is always appreciated by the captain and crew — entirely at your discretion.
Daisy, we'd be proud to host Dorsey & Whitney aboard JADA on October 24. Tell us which boarding option you'd like, your preferred start time, and the size you're planning, and we'll lock the date and confirm the Glorietta Bay dock right away.
A day on the bay they'll remember.
Proposed for a private charter of the entire vessel on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for 15–30 guests. Charter rate is $695 per hour plus an 18% port fee, two-hour minimum. The hourly rate includes the boat, USCG-licensed captain and crew, liability insurance, port and docking fees, and a cooler of chilled water.
JADA's home dock is the Sheraton at Harbor Island. Because a Glorietta Bay (Coronado) boarding requires repositioning the vessel — about one hour of sailing each way — that time is billed at the same hourly rate, as reflected in Options 1 and 2 above. Pricing shown assumes three hours aboard; sailing time can be added or trimmed at $695/hour plus the port fee. Final Glorietta Bay dock arrangements are confirmed when an option is selected. Sample times are illustrative and adjust to your chosen start.
Gratuity for the crew is not included; 20% is customary and at the client's discretion. JADA operates under a U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection certifying 34 persons total, inclusive of captain and crew; guest count is capped accordingly. The date is held upon agreement and deposit. Payment by Zelle carries no processing fee; card payments carry a 2.9% processing fee.
