Weddings & Vow Renewals

A wedding ceremony
that needs no venue.

JADA was built in 1938. She has outlasted buildings, businesses, and fashions. An intimate ceremony on her deck — San Diego Bay, open sky, the sound of water — doesn't need decorators. The boat is the setting.

What this looks like

JADA boards at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina on Harbor Island. You bring your officiant, your guests (up to 28), and whatever flowers, music, or readings make the ceremony yours. The crew handles everything else.

The ceremony can happen at the dock before departure, underway in the bay, or at anchor in a quiet stretch of water — your call. JADA offers a cockpit and main deck with enough room for a proper ceremony circle and plenty of space for guests who want to watch from the rail.

The boat is available for wedding photography before, during, and after — the teak, the brass, the rigging, and the bay itself give a photographer everything they need. JADA has been in more than a few wedding albums.

Vow renewals

An anniversary, a milestone, a quiet renewal just for two with the bay as witness — JADA handles these just as well as full ceremonies. A 2-hour private sail with your person and a champagne toast at sunset is a complete event. No vendors, no venue, no staff to coordinate. Just the boat and the water.

Questions

Can we get legally married on the boat?

Yes, with a licensed officiant. The ceremony performed on JADA is fully legal — the boat is the venue, not the officiant. You'll need to obtain your marriage license from San Diego County before the ceremony.

Do you allow outside catering?

Yes. JADA is BYOB and BYOF — bring your own food and drink. Many couples arrange catering through a local service that boards food before departure.

How far in advance should we book?

For weekend spring and fall dates, 2–4 months is common. Summer dates go faster. Reach out as early as you can to confirm availability.

What if the weather is bad?

San Diego Bay has one of the most reliable climates on the West Coast. We monitor weather carefully and will discuss rescheduling options if conditions are genuinely unsuitable. June gloom aside, most days are sailable.
